Cookie Policy

Version 1 · October 30, 2026

This page is available in English, Italian and Dutch. The three versions are equally valid. If they differ, the meaning that is most favourable to you applies.

This page lists the cookies and the other information that Givibes stores on your device or reads from it, who places them, why, and for how long. The controller is Andrea Battarelli Martini, operating as Givibes (see the Privacy Policy).

1. What this page covers

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser and reads again later. The same rules apply to other ways of storing information on your device or reading it from it: the browser's local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage), its database (IndexedDB), its cache, and the components of other companies included in an app. This page covers all of them.

There are two categories:

  • Necessary: what is strictly needed to provide the service you asked for, for example to keep you signed in or to protect a form. The law does not require your consent for these; it requires us to inform you, which is the purpose of this page.
  • With your consent: everything else. We use it only if you choose “Accept”.

Givibes uses no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no analytics tools and no fingerprinting. The only element that requires your consent is Google's personalised sign-in button (section 3). The anonymous totals that venues see (section 3.2) are calculated by Givibes itself, from what the app sends only while “Personalised order” is on.

2. Your choice and the banner

On the website (givibes.app), the first time you open the sign-in screen a banner offers two buttons of equal weight: “Only necessary” and “Accept”. If you close the banner without choosing, only the necessary elements are used. Your choice is stored on your device (under the key givibes:consenso-cookie, with its date) so that the banner does not appear again. It is valid for 6 months. After that, or if what “Accept” covers changes, the choice no longer counts and the banner asks again; until you answer, only the necessary elements are used. The choice belongs to the device, not to your Account, so it stays when you log out.

  • With “Only necessary”, the sign-in screen shows our own “Continue with Google” button. Google's script is loaded only when you tap it, because at that moment you have asked to sign in with Google. For now this takes two taps: the first loads Google's button, the second uses it.
  • With “Accept”, Google's script is loaded as soon as the sign-in screen opens, so that the button can show your Google name and photo (“Continue as …”). Google then sees your IP address and reads and sets its own cookies, even if you do not sign in with Google.

You can change your choice at any time in Settings › Privacy › “Cookies”. If you are not signed in, you can also clear the site data for givibes.app in your browser: the banner will then ask again. Withdrawing your consent does not affect what happened before.

The banner does not appear in the Android app, because the app uses nothing that needs consent. There, sign-in with Google is native: it uses your phone's Google account (through Credential Manager), starts only when you tap it, and loads no script and no cookies from Google.

Sign in with Apple is not offered today. Before we offer it on the website, we will update this page.

3.2 Storage in your browser (not cookies)

These elements stay on your device. Some are sent to our server only as part of the request they are needed for, as described below. We do not use them to follow you across other sites.

WhatWherePurposeDurationCategory
Your location (coordinates and time), if you allowed itlocalStorageAvoid asking for your location at every opening; it is sent to our server only to calculate nearby events, in a header of the request, not in its address (except in older versions of the Android app). While “Personalised order” is on (see the Privacy Policy, section 4.1), the app tells our server which nights it showed you, which ones you opened, flipped, expanded or shared, which venue pages you opened and what you searched for. This information is not stored on your device; it is sent at the moment it happens. It is used for your personalised order and, without your name, for the anonymous totals that venues see (Privacy Policy, section 5.2). If you turn “Personalised order” off, the app sends none of this any more, so your actions are not counted in those totals either.

4. The Android app

The Android app is the same app as givibes.app inside a native shell. It uses the same storage listed in section 3.2, inside the app, and the following elements.

The app's data is excluded from your phone's backup to Google. The map tiles in the app pass through our server, so MapTiler does not see your IP address for them. The MapTiler logo shown on the map, however, is still loaded directly from MapTiler: when you open the map, MapTiler sees your IP address and can set the _cfuvid cookie above.

6. Third parties

These companies receive your IP address, and in some cases read or set their own cookies, when the Service loads one of their components. Each of them is described in the Privacy Policy, section 5.

  • MapTiler (France): the map on the website, and the MapTiler logo on the map in the Android app, when you open the map; cookie _cfuvid. MapTiler's privacy policy.
  • Google (United States): the sign-in with Google, as described in section 2; Firebase in the Android app, only after your yes to notifications. Google's privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare (global network): every request passes through Cloudflare, which protects and delivers the Service; Turnstile on the forms; Access on the staff console. Cloudflare also asks your browser to report network errors to it (“Network Error Logging”): the browser keeps this instruction for 7 days and sends a report to Cloudflare only when a request to the Service fails, never when it works. It is a Cloudflare setting that our plan does not let us switch off. Cloudflare Web Analytics is switched off. Cloudflare's privacy policy.
  • Apple (Ireland and United States): only when Sign in with Apple is offered; it is not offered today.

Our emails load no images or fonts from other companies, and contain no tracking pixels.

7. How to delete them

  • Log out: ends the session and deletes from the device everything that belonged to your Account: your location, your recent searches, the identifiers of nights, the city you chose, the last venue of the console, the tips you saw, the copy of public nights and, in the app, the notification token. What belongs to the device stays: your cookie choice, the sound of videos, the console theme and what the phone answered about location and notifications.
  • Settings › Privacy › “Cookies”: change your choice about Google's personalised button.
  • Explore: delete your recent searches.
  • Your browser's settings: delete cookies and site data for givibes.app; on the phone, the app's settings (“Clear storage”) or uninstalling the app delete everything the app keeps.
  • Your phone's permissions: withdraw location, camera, microphone or notifications at any time.

If you delete the necessary elements, the Service can stop working properly; for example, you will be signed out.

8. Changes and contact

When we add or change an element, we update this page and its date. If we want to add an element that requires your consent, we ask for it first. Questions: [email protected].
