Delete your Givibes account

Last updated September 20, 2026

You can delete your Givibes account yourself, from inside the app, at any time. This page explains how, exactly what is deleted, and what stays behind.

Jump to a section

In short

Settings → Account → Delete account. You confirm with your password, and it's done immediately. There is no waiting period and no way to undo it.

Deleting your account is free, takes effect straight away, and doesn't require you to contact us.

Delete from the app, in three steps

  1. Open Givibes and go to your Profile, then tap Settings.
  2. Tap Account, then Delete account at the bottom of the list.
  3. Read what will be deleted, type your password to confirm, and tap Delete my account.

We ask for your password again on purpose: it means someone who gets hold of an unlocked phone still can't destroy your account.

What is deleted

When you confirm, the following is deleted or permanently anonymised:

  • Your identity — name, username, bio, profile photo, email address, and student verification. The email address and username are released, so they can be used again.
  • Your photos and videos — every vibe you uploaded, including the image and video files themselves.
  • Your relationships — friendships, friend requests, follows, blocks and limits, in both directions.
  • Your activity — the events you said you were going to, saved events, recaps, poll answers, invite links and interests.
  • Your messages with venues — the private question threads you started, and every message in them.
  • Your sessions — you are signed out on every device, not just this one.
  • Reports — reports you made, and reports made about you.

What stays

Content that belongs to a venue rather than to you is not deleted, but your name is removed from it:

  • Events and stories you published on behalf of a venue stay online. The record that "someone with this role did this" remains; the "who" becomes empty.
  • Internal staff notes about a venue stay with the venue, without their author.

We also keep a stripped-down, non-identifying row for your old account so that venue content doesn't break. It contains no name, no email, no photo and no password you could sign in with.

If you run a venue

If you are the only Owner of a venue, the confirmation screen shows you that venue and lets you hand it over to one of its Admins. You are never forced to stay: if you don't choose anyone, or if the venue has no Admins, the venue is simply left without an Owner and our staff pick it up and reassign it. Your deletion always goes through.

How long it takes

It happens immediately, in a single operation. There is no grace period, no "deactivated" state, and no way for you or for us to bring the account back afterwards. Media files are removed from our storage right after, unless the same file is also part of a venue's published story.

Download your data first

If you want a copy of your data before you go, use Settings → Account → Download my data. You get a JSON file with everything we hold about you — it contains no passwords and no other people's names or email addresses. Once the account is deleted we can't produce it any more, so download it first.

If you can't sign in any more

If you've lost access to your account, first try Forgot password on the sign-in screen — if you can get back in, you can delete the account yourself in a minute.

If that doesn't work, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete the account. We'll verify that the request comes from the account holder and delete it for you, normally within a few days and in any case within one month, as required by the GDPR.
